Thank You Clorox!

For the second year in a row, Clorox has donated a year’s supply of bleach to Hôpital Sacré Coeur. Bleach is an essential commodity for any hospital and especially one located in Haiti. At Hôpital Sacré Coeur, bleach is used in everything from water treatment to mosquito control to disinfection to laundering. Prior to Clorox’s gift in 2015, full-strength bleach was hard to come by at Hôpital Sacré Coeur. Hospital staff had to rely on whatever product was available in the local market. Invariably, locally available bleach was well past its sell by date and inferior to Clorox, which everyone knows is the very highest quality bleach.

Indeed, Clorox has been integral to Hôpital Sacré Coeur’s success in preventing diphtheria and other highly communicable diseases from causing secondary cases at the hospital. For example, when a patient with diphtheria or cholera is admitted to Hôpital Sacré Coeur, a large sponge mat saturated with Clorox is placed outside the patient’s room so that shoe bottoms are consistently disinfected. Floors and other hard surfaces are also regularly scrubbed with a Clorox solution. These are just a few of the many ways Clorox has made a real and meaningful difference at Hôpital Sacré Coeur. Without doubt, Clorox is a very important partner in advancing quality healthcare at Hôpital Sacré Coeur. We are very grateful to Clorox for their generosity and commitment to Hôpital Sacré Coeur and the people of northern Haiti.
