Hôpital Sacré Coeur is one of the largest employers in the north of Haiti, affording much needed income to the poverty stricken region. The hospital staff and volunteers also provides income to local vendors by regularly purchasing their wares. For many of the local vendors, the income generated by the sale of a painting, bottles of soda or some hand made beads is their only means of feeding their families.
