Medical Education

CRUDEM remains committed to improving the quality of healthcare in Haiti through ongoing medical education.

The Medical Education Committee was formed in late 2010 to oversee the creation of a formal education program at Hôpital Sacré Coeur. In 2011, a series of week-long symposia were held in the areas of internal medicine, pediatrics, emergency medicine, OB-GYN and life support. Instructors included both American and Haitian faculty who volunteered their time and expertise. Attendees included Haitian healthcare providers from Hôpital Sacré Coeur and throughout Haiti.

Other significant education projects overseen by the Medical Education Committee include:

• Development of Haiti’s first nursing school with North American
  accreditation standards
• Rotations for American medical students/residents
• Research
• The development of an advanced information technology infrastructure to link
Hôpital Sacré Coeur with medical experts in the US
