Karl Spears is a design engineer who works at Bobcat Corporation, a subsidiary of Doosan Company and has been coming to Haiti for several years now with his wife, who is a nurse. Karl originally came to help us with the service of the new Bobcat excavator that was gifted to CRUDEM in 2010.
We quickly found out that he also had extensive training in diesel engines which are the backbone of our fleet of vehicles and generators. Through many hours of patient and thoughtful instruction by Karl, our chief mechanic, Rodney has been able to improve his own abilities to maintain these vital machines during the balance of the year. Karl has procured thousands of dollars’ worth of tools and other replacements parts either by purchasing them with his own funds or as donations through his contacts with other companies who are sympathetic toward our needs.
