Prosthetic Labs Arrival

I am sorry that I cannot send more detail but when I finish my journal will make it available, but I want to share the moment.

We arrived Wednesday morning and went to the compound. No lab! Delnatus told us it would be there, sure enough it arrived that evening and the driver left it on the side of the street.

Thursday we waited for the crane and sure enough, it arrived late in the morning. We called the container driver and he showed up that afternoon. The crane positioned itself inside the compound and the container driver insisted, over our objection, to back the container in. That took two hours and it was in the wrong place. The crane operator was wonderful. He just rolled with it, moved the crane and picked the container up over the trees and sat it down. It topped the trees so they had to be removed for him to reposition the crane. He then lifted the container and turned it around and was positioning it when the crane became unstable and needed to be repositioned. The hydraulic foot locked and after struggling with it until seven, he called it a day.

Friday The operator returned and worked on the crane. We assembled the frame for the shade, got it cleared by customs and the crane was fixed so we put the lab in the proper place. Much excitement. Unloaded, put up the shade and straighten up the shop. We got the power and water connected in time to have an open house Friday night.

Saturday Continued to organize the shop and Mike and Shannon arrived. Immediately we began to see patients and did one cast of a residual limb.

Sunday morning off, but back to work in the afternoon.

Monday continued to see and make prosthesis.

Tuesday fitted the first BK prosthesis and he walked. What a thrill.

Wednesday we returned and Mike continues to work.

I cannot thank those involved enough. Dr Chalameau, Delnatus, Enoch, Cyril, Tatoo,Rodney and all the workers who worked there hearts out to make the lab a success.
